Beginning: woods

January 20, 2014

A hiker at the beginning of a path leading to woods and mountains beyond

My response to Illustration Friday’s “Beginning” topic … the start of a journey into woods and beauty and the unknown. Over at Illustration Friday, there’s a wonderful variety of others’ responses to this topic, very worth checking out.

Part of the fun is seeing all the different translations that other people have come up with for Illustration Friday — and don’t worry, there’s no wrong solution.

I love this, the beginning of adventure! Did you use a ballpoint pen for this sketch or is it a digital sketch?

Thanks! It’s a digital sketch. I usually sketch stuff over and over with a pen in a sketchbook first. And then I use a Wacom tablet for digital sketching. I love the thing — it’s so much easier to use than a computer mouse or (even worse) use the finger pad.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing a bit of your process. I got a Wacom tablet for my birthday, but I have yet to really use it for art. That will have to be a new year’s goal!

Thanks — but not to worry. This didn’t take hours upon hours. Plus, I really enjoyed doing it!

This is super cool. This is the first I’ve heard of Illustration Friday. I might have to try my hand at it this week.

Wacom tablet??? I’ll have to look into that when and if I ever have more time.
Too much Tech – I am not good with. 🙂
I like your drawing – doesn’t matter how it was done. Beginnings, new beginnings can be scary.
