The puddles have arrived

April 27, 2012

The dripping
and the
and the
splooshing and the

The puddles have arrived.
These miniature lakes
ripple and wait
like mirrors reflecting
our gleefulselves
back to ourselves and our raised
boots about to stomp–
then landing and sending
sprays about
so watchout you might get wet.

But we need to be careful,
as you never really know what
mysterious worlds
could be under those puddles
and stomping down like this
could send you tumbling
down and down
and you find yourself submerged
in some deep underwater world
somehow able to breathe
and how can colors be this bright
and brilliant and beautiful:
of fish, stripes and spots zipping about
corals like brains and fans
anenomes in clusters of tubes
waving in the current as if to say
hello to the nudibranches in
impossible shapes colors patterns
everythingly around is
impossibly amazingly tremendously
and yet
there they are.

Perhaps you will find a
kind mermaid who will help you
find the way back
if you
want to return to above.

What a beautiful poem that presents the imagination of a child…exploring the puddles…brought back memories…this was fun to read.
