Sunflowers and Corn at McKee-Beshers

August 2, 2011

A few years ago, I had heard about the field of sunflowers at McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area, but never made the time to see them. This year, I went to see them — except it was past the peak of the flowers. Plus, we’ve had some pretty hot days in the Washington, DC area, and the heat and lack of rain probably weren’t kind to the sunflowers. Still, the field is impressive. A scene where I could imagine Vincent Van Gogh stopping to set up his easel and painting away. Next year, I’ll have to go earlier in July to try to get closer to the peak of the sunflowers.
