Firefly, lightning bug (poem 25)

June 25, 2010

Firefly, lightning bug
(lightning bug, firefly)
zipping around the backyard
Can’t see ’em now
but justwaitaminute
there’s one
     and another
popping on their
lime-green flashlights
Catch ’em in your hands
easyascanbe
Hold ’em in your cupped hand
like a little globe
and the firefly says “hello” with
a flick of its green light
Then it’s off
fleeting like thoughts
or summer days
hereandgone.

Very nice ending to the poem…love the metaphor that you ended with…well said.
