Sandcastle’s gone missing
Yesterday’s sandcastle
was magnificent:
towers for the king and queen
to gaze upon their sandy kingdom,
a great hall where all
the knights and court ate and
danced and made merry,
and great walls rose high,
towering above the ocean waves
that collapsed and rushed to
try and enter its epic gate,
and great numbers of shells
upon the towers to show
the immense riches of the royalty,
and a wide moat to keep out
the rabble rousers and ne’er-do-wells.
But when we went back today, the
sandcastle was mysteriously missing.
The king and queen and knights must
have packed up and disassembled
their majestic abode while we slept.
They must’ve left in a hurry,
for their shell jewels are still here.
We can only hope they are further down
the beach and inspiring awe
somewhere else.

Such a delightful feeling one gets when reading your poem.
